Organizes the alcohol- and substance-free space at Pride Week. Held in the Paul Kane Parkette, the Free Zone is open on Sunday to all. Free Zone is dedicated to providing a safe experience for people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, and who want to attend and enjoy the Pride Week festival and celebration. The Committee programs a day of activities, including educational and outreach forums around substance abuse issues, the “Bad Advice for a Loonie” table, massage, tarot readings, and several Recovery meetings throughout the day. The Free Zone space also includes live entertainment that the Programming Committee arranges with support from the Free Zone Committee.
